Allright, I've read several posts and I'm getting the feeling this is general practice on EVE. I'd like to know if this is termed harassment or just part of EVE.
Myself and a couple friends have earned enough money to create a corp. We wanted this so we could share assets and generally make it easier to work together.
A couple days after our corp is made, we've already gotten notice that another corp is declaring war on us. So now we soon won't be safe in concord space.
So... WTF?! We just want to do our thing and develop our characters / get better ships, rat hunt, etc. Why are we now going to be attacked by another corp's super characters and battleships in protected space? To us this is harassment, we don't do anything to other corps we just stick to ourselves.
So... is this normal in EVE, and approved by EVE staff? Do we need to dissolve our corp and go back to not having a shared hangar just because sone bloodthirsty corp is declaring war on starting corps for kicks? I don't pay money in this game to be attacked in protected space. When we're ready for wars we'll mess around with it. But right now we aren't interested. What can we do?

We plan to file a harassment petition if they actually attack us in an area protected by concord. We aren't paying real money to be prevented from enjoying this game by a wayward corporation that EVE allows to harass innocent starting corporations.

Warlike corps can fight all they want. Players who are not playing the game for corpwars do not need to be harassed by other corps in concord space. THe corp who declared war has 80 members. And their ships are battleship class, at least the ones we've seen.
We pay real $$$ to play this game. I know of no other MMORPG that allows PVP without mutual consent and within sa***uarded areas.

Ore stealing has plenty of threads posted on these forums already. No point in trudging it up here again. The point of this thread was to help us understand what our options are when declared war against by an overpowering corp. So far they have not attacked us yet, despite promises to blockade our section of space (it's in a dead-end area). And if they do, we will probably just dissolve the corp so it is once again illegal to attack our members.
I found this entry in the official EVE knowledge base. So far as I can tell, storing ore in jetcans is considered an exploit. So if anyone is complaining about people stealing ore (I've seen some ore thieves myself but never had to deal with them since we use secure containers) they should read the knowledge base.
Eve Knowledge Base:
Question Why is it so easy to steal ore ? Answer The regular containers were designed to jettison unwanted items into space or to hold loot from blown up ships. They were designed so that any player could take from them because that was essential for them to function as they were intended. Players later invented the "container mining" method after noticing that the containers could hold way more than any cargo hold. This use for the containers was never intended and it has the obvious flaw that any player with a reduced sense of right and wrong can come by and take everything from the container and no one can do anything about it.
The bottom line is: If you use regular containers to store your ore you assume all the risk. Having your valuables floating in space in an unsecured container is equivalent to throwing money on the street. Should you lurk nearby and wait for someone to take the money and then attack him, the police would deal with you, not him. The same goes in Eve. If you attack a player who just took "your" ore from a regular container in a system with a security level of 0.5 or higher. You will be destroyed by Concord.
